Born in 1980 in Hanoi, Ngo Van Sac’s wood-burn portraits represent a pivotal point in his artistic path. As a passionate artist, Ngo Van Sac started exploring the art of painting on wood panels over ten years ago. However, upon reflecting on his earlier creations, he found that they didn’t meet his high standards. Determined to push boundaries, he decided to take a bold step. With determination burning within him, he set flame to his previous paintings, watching as they transformed before his eyes. In the flickering glow and radiant hues born from the heat, Ngo Van Sac discovered a new perspective, a newfound life infused with artistic brilliance. It was through this unique fusion of fire and natural pinewood that Ngo Van Sac found his true artistic voice, a voice that resonates with depth and intensity.
Drawing inspiration from his journeys across Vietnam, Ngo Van Sac’s subjects in his artworks are deeply rooted in the captivating authenticity of the people he encounters. These subjects come alive through his meticulous portrait paintings, capturing the essence and spirit of each individual. Through his art, Ngo Van Sac invites viewers to embark on a visual and emotional journey, where they too can connect with the raw beauty and profound authenticity of the Vietnamese people.

Mỹ thuật phương Đông – Hành trình từ cổ điển đến hiện đại

Từ xa xưa, mỹ thuật phương Đông đã xây dựng một hệ giá trị thẩm mỹ hoàn toàn khác biệt với phương Tây, nơi không gian trong tranh không bị gò bó bởi phối cảnh tuyến tính mà mở ra như một cuộc dạo chơi vô tận. Những bức họa cổ trên lụa, giấy dó hay tranh tường chùa chiền đều mang đậm triết lý “thiên – nhân hợp nhất”, con người chỉ là một phần nhỏ bé trong vũ trụ bao la. Các danh họa Việt Nam thế hệ đầu như Nguyễn Gia Trí, Tô Ngọc Vân đã kế thừa tinh hoa ấy, vừa giữ hồn cốt Đông phương vừa tiếp thu ánh sáng và bố cục phương Tây.
